Tea, Shoes, and Hidden Treasures {Finding Joy In The Journey}

“I’m learning to love the sound of my feet walking away from things not meant for me!”

~Twelve Odd Months

In December I was informed that I would be spending the first week of 2020 in Minneapolis. I was not happy about it for several reasons.

  • Minneapolis weather in January is well known for sub-zero temperatures, high winds, and lots of snow
  • The people participating in the event are not my tribe (so conversations will be difficult and not fun), and
  • The topic…I have a different philosophy and therefore didn’t think I would add any value to the conversations.

To summarize my thoughts and feelings about the trip….

I feared that I would be the miserable wallflower at a boisterous meeting!
I felt like I won’t belong and will not add value!

I’m sure you are all familiar with the feeling of wanting to be anywhere other than where you are. It has been a continual theme in my life – wrong location, wrong tribe, and wrong topic. So in order to appease myself and make the trip feel a little more fun and adventurous, I googled the address of Fluevog Shoes and decided that I would take an earlier flight specifically to visit this shoe store (located about 20 minutes from the hotel and not at the Mall of America). Why Fluevog Shoes? I stumbled across this shoe company while reading a book (recommended by a friend) last summer called:

Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic

Don’t you just love the title! It’s a light easy read book filled with cupcakes, adventure, and magic. The main character in this book series continually mentioned her Fluevog shoes. So I googled Fluevog and discovered a whole new world of “magical” shoes. Not only are the designs awesome, but each shoe has a motto. Examples: Be Your True Self; Share your cool… increase your daily hugs; Go Wear The Spirt Flows.

On Tuesday, after I landed at Minneapolis and picked up my rental car, I typed in the address on my cell phone and drove to Fluevog Shoes. There was limited parking in the area, so I parked in a grocery store parking lot (to get free parking) and went into the grocery store to check it out. I wish there was a local grocery store like this – full of beautiful flowers, organic food, and shelves of The Republic Tea blends. So I purchased a few new tea blends to test out for future workshops and walked to Fluevog Shoes. While in the store, I carefully studied the shoes I wanted to try on and when the sales associate came out with the boxes, she decided to add a few more selections to the mix. It was so much fun trying on different shoes. The craziest shoes I tried on where gold and sparkled (imagine glitter shoes). I felt like I needed to wear an Elton John outfit. After trying on 8 different styles of shoes, I made my selection and found out that the shoes were on sale and there is no clothing/shoe sales tax in Minnesota. WOOHOO. When I returned to my hotel room, I looked at the shoes and noticed that the motto was not marked on the bottom of the shoe soles. So I googled the shoes on-line and found the motto:

Find Your Hidden Treasures

How fun is that! But what really caught my attention was the following: The Carmen is built partly from delicate Italian leather that features real dried flowers underneath a thin layer of clear patent.

WOW – so plant medicine is sneaking back into my life via my shoes.

On Wednesday, I received my weekly Pied Piper of Purpose newsletter which included a weekly oracle reading. The reading included a picture of a scythe (just like the one I had received from my grandfather). The weekly message…

What thoughts do you need to release? I realized I needed to release my very old story of…I don’t belong here!

So I decided to play with the old story. I decided to change my thoughts around and said to myself “I can’t change the fact that I’m here, so maybe I should ask…how can I be of service while I’m here?” I let go of the belief that I don’t belong here and my opinions don’t matter and quickly discovered that the guidance I provided 6 months ago to the Minnesota customer had been implemented. By letting go of this very old belief, I could suddenly see the truth.

I do belong here and what I do does matter!

I saw first hand 3 companies working together – an initiative I started last July.

On Thursday: Google randomly sent me a picture I took in July 2019 – a live healthy tree with some very old dead branches. A reminder that…

Old stories are like dead tree limbs. You need to cut them off, so the tree stays heathy and grows!

Thursday after the meetings ended, my colleague wanted to stop by the Mall of America prior to catching their flight back to Montreal. As I walked around with my colleague, she picked out 2 party dresses that were on sale: a black party dress and a gold party dress. She mentioned to me that black was her usual color but the gold dress both intrigued her and scared her. I asked her what scared her about the gold dress. Her response…”I can’t hide wearing the gold dress, everyone will see me”. My response to her, besides BUY IT…

Maybe it’s time to stop hiding and SHINE!

On Friday: I awoke inspired as the book I’ve been attempting to write for 2 years finally just started to flow out of me. And my full moon message:

It’s time to release the old story of “not belonging” so that I can actually see my hidden treasures!

Are you ready to uncover and release an old story so that you can reconnect to your hidden treasures and own magic? Listen to my Full Moon Sound Journey below. I would love to hear what you discover. And if you need assistance in deciphering the message, I offer 45 minute free consultations (with no pressure to buy anything).
