The Call

rearview-mirror

“It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.”

~Excerpt from The Invitation by Oriah Mountain

I received the message last Thursday AM while I was in Racine WI….”Robin I think your cat Phaedra had a stroke!”. My friend Dave kindly took Phaedra to the vet and then picked her up when the vet called him to tell him she was OK to go home. When I arrived at Kent Thursday night and held Phaedra, I knew her days were limited. I had a decision to make that all pet owners dread to make. Phadra was not suffering, but you could see that her quality of life had deteriorated as a result of the mini-stroke.

The Call…

Around 3am on Friday morning, I was awoken by Phaedra howling from the mediation room. There she sat on the rug next to my Tibetan singing bowls that she cherished. She was waiting for me to play the singing bowls for her. As I played the bowls her body relaxed, she started to purr, and she finally fell back to sleep. Playing the singing bowls every several hours became part of our ritual over the course of the weekend. Attached is a link to a video I made approximately 1 month ago of Phaedra listening to the Tibetan signing bowls.

Around 3am on Saturday morning, I was awoken by Phaedra’s physical discomfort. She was not in pain, just general discomfort as she tried to find a comfortable way to lay in her favorite box. So I got up and went to my cabinet and pulled out “Transform Ease” flower essence and gave it to her. Again her body relaxed, she purred, and she finally settled into her box and fell back to sleep. Giving her flower essence to ease her discomfort every several hours became part of our ritual over the course of the weekend.

Reflection

While catering to Phaedra’s needs over the weekend, I had a lot of time to reflect. It was just this past February when I journeyed to Mexico to learn Soul Coaching and to dive deep into unearthing and discovering my own unique genius. Now here I am again, with a cat as my teacher, learning more about my own unique gifts and talents.

Based on my weekend experience, I decided to reach out and thank the gifted people (Shakti and Diana)who:

  • followed their hearts,
  • listened to their intuition,
  • and decided to offer their unique gifts and genius to the world.

When they started on their own journey’s, I’m sure there were no road maps. I imagined that they had to face their own fears of being different and being seen. I’m sure they had no idea how far reaching their unique genius would travel and how many lives they would touch.

Hearing the message

Through my own experiences this past weekend, I realized that discovering your unique genius is NOT about:

  • A quick “tell me what the answer is”…but a gentle unfolding of your own gifts, strengths, courage, and beauty;
  • Quitting your day job…but discovering how you can bring your gifts to your life every day;

What is stopping you from bringing your gifts and unique genius out into the world?

Based on my own experiences over the past week and in honor of Phaedra my cat, I have decided to offer the “Discover Your Unique Genius” program for free. Please click on the “guided prompt” below and see if the program resonates with you. The program officially starts on Monday October 10th.
